When Governor Sol F. Matugas assumed office in 2010, she gave utmost attention and importance on Information Technology. This is proven when the Honorable Governor created the Management Information System Center under the Provincial Governor’s Office whose mandate is to provide comprehensive assistance in establishing information technology programs, enhancing potential linkages between all provincial government departments and provide improved technology solutions for provincial government decision-making.

Legal Mandate

On 29th day of March in the year 2011, Management Information System (MIS) Center under the Provincial Governor’s Office is created through Administrative Order No. 003 Series of 2011.

MIS is mandated with the following functions:

  1. to assist in the integration of Information and Communications Technology/Geographic Information Systems into the Management Information System of the Province of Surigao del Norte;
  2. develop computer-based systems with regard to the complete flow of office transactions and/or operations including detailed processes of documents. It shall likewise develop system of monitoring projects and programs of the provincial government; and
  3. ​perform such other tasks that may be assigned by the Governor.
