Last May 12, 2022, the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte was visited by the Regional Assessment Team from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Regional Assessment. The Regional Assessment Team was led by DILG Regional Director, RD Lilibeth Famacion, CESO III. With her were DILG Caraga Personnel— Mr. Ray Gregory Jaranilla and Ms. Jamielyn S. Cobrado and CSO Representative— Mr. Winston Salvador. DILG SDN Provincial Director, PD John Reyl Mosquito and Provincial SGLG Focal Person, Ms. Shiela Gesta were also present. Provincial Administrator, Atty. Premolito B. Plaza, was in attendance in place of Provincial Governor, Atty. Francisco T. Matugas.

The day started out with Mr. Arturo Cruje, Consultant for PGO- Education, Culture and the Arts, giving a brief tour for the guests. The event was held at the Bayay Surigaonon with participants from the DepEd Tri-Division, SDN Provincial Police Office and PGSDN Department Heads.

After hours of reviewing the documents and mode of verifications and a brief site inspection, the validators gave their feedback on the compliance of the province. After sharing their assessment, they concluded that the province passed all 10 areas and reminded of the additional documents to be provided.

The National Assessment for the SGLG is scheduled on the 3rd Quarter of this year.
